Chris in PA sent these pics of his first kills in 2005. Nice spring hogs! Thanks Chris!

I was fortunate enough to have been on leave for the first half of June. Myself and my younger brother Todd went hog hunting a few times. I do have a picture of one hog he killed at 111 yards with his Remington model 700 .270. He has a Leupold 3-9x40 scope mounted on his .270. He was using 130grain Nosler ballistic tip bullets.

The rifle in question is a Savage 110 in .22-250. Other than a very necessary trigger job its pretty stock. A lot of people don't like Savage rifles but I do and I've never had a hog complain about getting tapped with this one. The Savage is capped with a BSA 4X16 AO scope. Again, a lot of people, hog shooters in particular, wouldn't even think about a BSA scope but it works and it holds zero. Harris bipod, and it weighs 10.8 pounds. I might have mentioned we've got a kid in college so that sort of limits my choices of artillery and accessories. I shoot a handload of course. Winchester brass, full length resized case, Federal primer, 34 grains of IMR 4895 pushing a 55gr Nosler ballistic tip at about 3500 fps. Fairly flat, hits like a Mack truck, and it doesn't burn the tube like hotter loads would. I have recently broken a 9 hog streak. I was 9 for 9 and then I had to hit one twice. Must be losin' it in my old age.
